Macromedia Inc, San Francisco-based provider of web publishing and animation tools, has reported fourth-quarter net income of $7.3m on revenue up 46.9% at $44.1m, compared to net income of $2.0m in the year-ago quarter. Earnings per share rose to $0.16 from $0.05 but fell a penny short of the First Call consensus. For the year, net income was $19.8m, or $0.44 per share, on revenue up 32.5% at $149.9m, against a net loss of $6.2m last year. Year-ago results for the 12-month period include a $7.7m merger-related charge. For the full fiscal year, the company said that Windows-related revenues rose 29% and represented 58% of total product revenue, up from 56% a year ago. Macintosh revenues, meanwhile, increased 16% over last year and were 42% of total product revenues. North American revenue represented 58% of the total during 1999, up from 52% a year ago.
