Ardent Software Inc, the Westboro, Massachusetts-based data warehousing development tools company, has reported a net loss of $7.6m for the second quarter to June 30 down from profit of $2.9m on revenue that increased 49% to $47.3m; the mid-term is $4.4m, down from a loss of $6.3m on revenue 36% to$74.8m. The current quarter includes a $14.9m one-time charge relating to the acquisition of Prism Solutions Inc. The company says that data warehouse revenue increased 357% to $16m in the quarter. Net earnings per share, excluding one-time items, were $0.34 – well above the $0.24 expected by analysts surveyed by First Call.
