American Management Systems Inc, the Fairfax, Virginia-based IT consulting and systems integration firm, has announced third- quarter net income up 23% on the year-ago period to $18.1m or 43 cents a share. The earnings were three cents above what analysts taking part in a First Call poll had tipped. Revenue for the three-month period to September 30 was $321.9m, a 14% increase on sales in the corresponding 1998 quarter. Officials at the firm said quarterly revenues had increased on the year-ago across all AMS’s vertical markets with the exception of the financial institutions market. Business in the telecommunications market grew by 40% primarily due to a number of large new projects begun this year, the firm added.
