Groningen, Netherlands-based Koninklijke PTT Nederland NV, to be privatised later this year – the Dutch are breaking new ground by privatising the entire post office as a single entity reported net profits for 1993 net profits up 7.9% at the equivalent of $939m and says it expects to report a moderate rise in net profit and turnover this year. The company says it expects to raise its capital spending in 1994, but will not need to raise capital except for special investments or acquisitions. Turnover rose 4% to $8,481m. The PTT Telecom BV unit saw a rise in net profit of only 2.7% to $715m, and blamed higher depreciation costs. Turnover at the telephone side rose by 6.4% to $6,174m.
