DTV GROUP WOOS EUROPE AFTER COOL RECEPTION IN US

Having won a somewhat cool reception from the US television industry over its proposals for digital television technology back in April (CI No 3,137), the DTV Group, including Intel Corp, Compaq Computer Corp and Microsoft Corp, has been talking to the Europeans at the International Television Symposium in Montreux, Switzerland, and plans to visit Japan later this month. The group appears to be taking a somewhat more conciliatory approach than it did in the US, and early reports suggest it met with a less hostile reaction.
