DT Group, a retailer and distributor of building materials in the Nordic region, has expanded its relationship with JDA Software by selecting JDA Advanced Warehouse Replenishment, JDA Advanced Store Replenishment and JDA Network Optimization.

It is hoped these solutions will help the company to increase revenue while reducing inventory levels across its integrated supply chain, fulfilling its STARK stores.

DT Group has a broad customer base ranging from the general public through to professional building contractors, and offers deliveries straight to the building site. It is owned by UK based Wolseley – a distributor of heating and plumbing products to the professional market, and a leading supplier of building materials and services across Europe and North America.

Challenged with a stagnant building materials market under low-price pressures, fierce competition characterised by seasonally heavy promotions, and a necessity to drive costs savings and cash flow, DT Group required proven, centrally-managed retail replenishment, forecasting and network design solutions to project sales and place automatic orders based on store/item selling histories.

Having experienced positive results in four business units where JDA replenishment solutions were previously implemented – Beijer and Cheapy in Sweden, Starkki in Finland, and Silvan in Denmark – DT Group decided to take a similar approach with its fifth business unit – STARK in Denmark. Previous implementations of JDA solutions allowed DT Group to take advantage of forecasting and replenishment information and work with promotional data to meet peak demand while optimising both inventory and service levels.

Hans Henrik Junge, group vice president, IT, IT director, DT Group, said: "DT Group is a market leader and we constantly work to improve the services we provide and make a real difference to our customers – be it B2B trade customers or DIY customers.
"With the JDA solutions, we are able to optimize the product range, improve service levels, decrease inventory levels and minimize the time spent on these work processes. This results in happy customers and increasing sales, so it’s really a win-win situation."

Mark Morgan, regional VP, EMEA, JDA Software, said: "We are very pleased to partner with DT Group to deliver automated and centrally managed replenishment and order optimisation solutions to support their continued growth. The ability to integrate demand and lead-time forecasting with order-policy and service-level analysis to provide accurate individual item demand forecasts and recommended orders will go a long way in helping DT Group continue its competitive market advantage."
