DSC Communications Corp, Dallas, and DEC, Maynard are stepping up their efforts in the phone company market with an agreement for joint development of a modular Service Control Point system to supporting intelligent network and information services for local and long distance phone companies. The Control Point will combine the functionality of DSC’s DEX MegaHub with DEC VAXes in a single system, expandable by distributing VAXes – phone companies will be able to deploy flexible configurations of VAXes directly into a traditional telecommunications system supported by the DEX MegaHub. The partners have already started joint marketing of the product, and expect it to be ready for delivery early next year.
