DRUGSTORE.COM INKS DEAL WITH ONHEALTH NETWORK

By CBR Staff Writer

Drugstore.com Inc, which has been trading drugs, health and beauty products since just last week, has signed a deal with OnHealth Network Co, a supplier of health news and information on the web. Initially, Drugstore.com will just run ads on OnHealth’s site, but the pair will exchange links throughout each other’s sites. Speaking at the Consumer Online Forum in New York yesterday, Drugstore.com CEO Peter Neupert said that at present, 18 of the 50 states permits some sort of electronic transfer of prescription information, but added that most of that side of the business will be done via telephone and fax for the foreseeable future. He added that the company has no plans to launch the service overseas for quite some time due to various legal and branding issues.
