Commenting on the company’s interim results – pre-tax profit up 28% at UKP32.5m (see Company Results) – the Earl of Harrowby, chairman of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire engineering and electronics outfit Dowty Group Plc, said that an initial contribution of UKP10.5m to turnover and UKP1.4m to pre-tax profit from recent acquisition Case Group Plc helped push turnover at its Information Systems division up 54% to UKP45.9m, with profit up 75% to UKP6.0m; there has been an increased emphasis on new technology within the group and the board recently announced that it was seeking a buyer for its mining and hydraulics interests.
