Document management company Documentum Inc, which has seen huge success through adapting its document management system to cater for specific vertical markets (CI No 3,332), has launched a version of its Enterprise Document Management System EDMS for manufacturing plant management. Documentum DocSolution for Plan and Facility Management handles all process manufacturing plant documents and engineering drawings. Documentum says plant documents often contain the mission critical knowledge required by manufacturers to run their plants, and DocSolution enables documents including plant engineering drawings, material specifications sheets, operating manuals, standard operating procedures, process and instrumentation diagrams and product data sheets to be managed and shared. The system enables all changes to these documents to be routed, tracked and approved by the appropriate person automatically over the company intranet. It is available now, and sold in conjunction with training and consulting services. Pricing is available from the company, and is dependent on individual requirements.
