The system, called iRISupply, uses a radio frequency identification (RFID) tracking architecture to automate charge capture, inventory management, device expiration management and other key operational processes within the patient care setting.
DMC Harper will implement 14 iRISupply cabinet units to manage the storage and utilization of implantable stent devices within its cardiac catheterization laboratory suites. By using the RFID-enabled technology, the healthcare provider is seeking to create a more efficient, automated process for managing these high-cost items and, in turn, benefit from more streamlined and accurate processes in documenting device utilization.
Implementation of the iRISupply system will begin in autumn 2007, DMC Harper said.
