The forthcoming Document Management Alliance specification has been successfully used for a multi-vendor trial use prototype implementation. Built by Kodak subsidiary Eastman Software, with Filenet Inc and Xerox Corp, the prototype clears the way for the publication of a full specification in December. The DMA spec, put together by the Association for Information and Image Management International, is supported by the likes of Adobe Systems Inc, Boeing, EDS Inc, General Motors and the US Department of Defense, and is intended to enable users to access and share documents regardless of file format, location or document management system vendor.
