DIXY BEGINS DEVELOPMENT OF LARGE SCALE PLASMA DISPLAY

By CBR Staff Writer

Dixy Ltd of Yokohama has begun development of a large-scale plasma display designed to put up a full spectrum of colours, and is aiming for a June shipment date: the company is also working on a 30 colour plasma display to follow later, and sees the colour plasmas being used in personal computers, office equipment and television sets; NHK, Japan’s answer to the British Broadcasting Corporation, has supplied some of the technology for the new screens to Dixy and wants to use the finished screens in the next generation of high-definition TVs, with 1,000 to 1,100 scan lines.
