Dixons Carphone will launch its own mobile services to customers using the Three UK network after signing a deal with Hutchinson Whampoa.

The electronics and mobile phone retailer will offer the contracts to customers purchasing connected products from their stores.

The new service is expected to launch this summer.

The 2014 merger of Dixons with Carphone Warehouse to create the current conglomerate was partly targeted at expanding into the Internet of Things market, which the company believes could be lucrative in the future.

Dixons Carphone’s leap into the mobile market comes at a time of considerable turbulence in the telecoms sector, with BT, Sky and Hutchinson Whampoa all currently in the midst of acquisition and partnership discussions.
