Samsung Electronics America’s Information Systems Division, headquartered in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey is shipping its PenMaster notepad computer: based on the Intel 80386SL, the PenMaster weighs less than 5 lbs, measures 9.35 by 11.5 by 1.48; it supports all pen operating systems, and offers hand-print recognition capabilities that enable users to modify data and text; it comes with a 60Mb hard disk drive, expandable to 120Mb, and a PCMCIA slot that offers up to 4Mb of additional memory capacity; there is one serial port, one parallel port, a VGA port for an external monitor, a PS/2-compatible keyboard port and a floppy disk drive port; the PenMaster comes standard with MS-DOS 5.0 and features a dual-boot capability; a 10-cell, Nickel Cadmium battery powers the PenMaster for than three hours under heavy use, or four to eight hours with normal use, and options include an 80Mb or 120Mb internal disk; also included are a memory expansion card and an external 3.5 1.44Mb floppy; out now at $4,000.
