Rochester, New York-based ConferTech International – a wholly owned subsidiary of Frontier Corp, the former Rochester Telephone Co – has acquired Link-VTC Inc, a Boulder, Colorado-based provider of videoconferencing services. Link-VTC is privately held. It will become a wholly owned subsidiary of ConferTech International and continue to operate as a separate entity. Frontier will pay a total cash purchase price in the range of between $12.4m and $17.9m, depending on the 1996 financial performance of Link-VTC. The acquisition is expected to be positive to cash flows and slightly accretive to Frontier earnings in 1996. The transaction does not require regulatory approval. Link-VTC was established in 1993 and specialises in providing value-added videoconferencing services, such as connecting videoconferencing sites where customers use different long-distance companies. Frontier says Link-VTC’s services complement its videoconferencing products provided through ConferTech, acquired by Frontier back in August as part of its takeover of ALC Communications Corp.
