DISNEY ACQUISITION OF AOL RUMORED AGAIN

By CBR Staff Writer

America Online Inc, which not long ago had expressed interest in buying rival Compuserve Inc, is itself the subject of a possible acquisition by the Walt Disney Co, according to a recurring rumor on Wall Street. The possibility of AOL being scooped up by Disney first surfaced back in December of last year (CI No 3,060). Since then, the companies have become better acquainted as, in April, Disney’s ABC-TV unit entered into a deal with AOL, Starwave Corp and Netscape Communications Corp to distribute an online news service (CI No 3,133).
