Dining App to reduce waiting time for restaurant goers

Allows waiters to quickly respond to bill payment or drink requests.

By Amy-Jo Crowley

A new app called getWaiter has been released for waiters and restaurant goers, designed to improve waiting services.

The app, which is available for Android and iOS, allows waiters to quickly respond to bill payment or another round of drinks requests.

Users scan a unique getWaiter! location code on their table that connects them to an internet-based portal displayed on the tablet at a waiter station.

Once they press a call button, a member of staff in charge can instantly see which tables require help and how much time has elapsed since their request.

Paul Tombs and Dominic McGuinness, the team behind the cloud-based app, came up with the idea following their frustration of eating out and not being able to get the waiter’s attention.

The app also includes optional sophisticated analytics software, allowing merchants to track how well staff members are performing and to spot bottlenecks with the hope of minimising waiting times.

Paul Tombs, managing director of getWaiter!, said: "Even if the food is great, customers can be left with a sour taste in their mouth if it takes too long to pay the bill.

"The aim is for the app to become instantly recognisable as a badge of excellence for customer service.

"Just as Michelin stars in the window of a restaurant signify great food, customers will know that venues where the getWaiter! logo is displayed really care about providing a great dining experience."
