DIGITAL SATELLITE RECEIVING SYSTEM FOR YOUR TV

Thomson SA’s Consumer Electronics unit in the US has unveiled what it claims is the first digital satellite receiving system for television, giving viewers more choices and the possibility of personalised viewing, and marking another step towards interactive television: the system, called RCA DSS, will provide an alternative to cable programming and will be available to consumers in April; the system contains an 18 satellite dish antenna for the home, a compact receiver that resembles a VCR in shape and size and a specially designer user-friendly remote control, and it will cost $700.
