A digital signage startup has broken a crowdfunding firm’s fundraising record.
Silver Curve has broken Seedrs’s £150,000 barrier with its campaign to reach a £200,000 goal.
The early-stage company has so far raised £152,830 through 194 investors, the most backers for a single project on the equity crowdfunding website.
Silver Curve hopes to use its "novel" graphics engine, Aperture, to run top-end didigtal signage software on a small and comparatively cheap Raspberry Pi-based computer, with an average-per-screen saving of £700.
Its CEO is Bryan Crotaz, with Barry Crotaz as a non-exec director and Sandy MacPherson as chairman.
The team said it has worked on digital signage software development for more than 15 years.
If it achieves its funding goal it will become Seedrs’s 29th successful campaign.
It will also bring Seedrs over the £2m funding mark since it began in July 2012, after already reaching the £1m landmark in April 2013.The average startup requested £70,000 of capital.
It hopes to expand into a Europe-wide operation by early 2014, with bases in key international locations.
Its rival, Crowdcube, broke the £10m mark in August 2013 after its launch in February 2011, helping successfully fund 59 businesses.
