DIGIBOARD CONNECTS NETWARE TO X25

By CBR Staff Writer

Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based DigiBoard Inc has introduced SyncPort/X25, an intelligent high-speed serial communications adaptor providing X25 Public Data Network connections for Novell NetWare local networks and wide area networks. According to the company, SyncPort/X25 is equipped with its own 20MHz RISC processor and performs at speeds up to T1/E1. The product features X25 communications software providing packet assembly-disassembly on the board, said to minimise system processing unit overload. Up to 64 sessions or virtual circuits are possible per trunk host. The adaptor fits a standard expansion slot in the local network communications server or multihost user and is available for AT, EISA and Micro Channel systems. The company says that it ships with drivers for Novell NetWare applications including NetWare Connect, NACS, NetWare Access Services 1.3X, NetWare Global MHS and NetWare for SAA, all using Novell’s AIO specifications. The product has two RS-422 synchronous serial ports, each supporting bidirectional communication rates up to 2,048Mbps, and complies with CCITT X3, X28, X25 and X29 standards, adds the company. Available now, SynchPort/X25 sells for UKP1,535. DigiBoard has also announced that its intelligent multiport asynchronous and synchronous communications products have been enhanced to support Novell’s NetWare Connect and IBM’s LAN Distance remote access systems. The products include the Xem family of multichannel communication boards, the C/X family of cluster controllers, the DigiBoard 2Port intelligent Async Board, and telecommunications adaptors for ISDN and X25 technologies.
