Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Digi International Inc has announced the LANAserver, an end-to-end remote access offering developed by Torrance, California-headquartered LAN Access Corp, which Digi is in the process of acquiring. The offering, comprising a server, client software and a Windows-based manager, is said to provide remote users with dial-in access to their corporate Ethernet networks and features 32-bit RISC processor, which Digi said enables it to maintain data transmission rates of up to 230Kbps regardless of the number of ports on the system. The product, which is said to reside directly on the host network, is available with slots for PC Card modems or RS-232 ports, which can be connected to either modems or ISDN, said the firm. It is available with two, four or eight serial ports, and with four PC Card slots and two serial ports. Network operating systems supported include NetWare, Windows for Workgroups, Windows NT, Vines and DECnet. It is available out now, listing for ú1,500 to ú3,450, depending on the configuration.
