DIFFERENCES BETWEEEN MATSUSHITA AND IBM CONTINUE

Further to Matsushita’s little run-in with IBM over infringement of copyright on the Personal Computer Basic Input-Output System (CI No 628), Matsushita is withdrawing all the FX800 Personalikes in can retrieve in the US and Europe; Japanese observers put the level of payment to IBM at $2m and $2.5m – and the spat could hurt IBM’s relationship with Matsushita because IBM has demanded to inspect the Matsushita’s computer factories, and with all due Japanese courtesy, Matsushita has told it to get lost.
