Diamond Multimedia Systems Inc says it will base its new 2D/3D graphics board – the Viper V550 – on Nvidia Corp’s 128-bit Riva TNT graphics chip. The board will have 16MB of SDRAM, with a memory clock speed of 125MHz. The integrated RAM digital to analog converter (RAMDAC) has a clock speed of 250MHz. Diamond claims that the board will offer two and three-dimensional resolutions of up to 1920×1200 pixels. The board supports DirectX 6.0 and Open GL application programming interfaces and can be configured with either PCI or AGP 2x ports. It is expected to ship in September with a street price of $200.
