Diamond Multimedia Systems Inc, specialists in multimedia acceleration, has
become a working member of the Universal Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) Working Group. The Group was formed to accelerate the delivery of a simplified version of
ADSL to the consumer. Its hopes its proposed version of ADSL, offering speeds of up to 1.5Mbps over existing phone lines, will become an International Telecommunication Union (ITU) standard. Other group members include Compaq, Intel, Microsoft, Ameritech, Bell Atlantic, Bell South, GTE and US West. In addition, Diamond announced plans to develop products based on the new
Intel740 AGP 2X graphics controller. It will launch a website this month at www.diamondmm.com/agp devoted to educating customers about AGP and what it
means for graphics performance on the PC.
