DHL STANDARDISES ON UNIX

By CBR Staff Writer

International carrier – or courier – DHL is standardising on Unix, and DHL Japan is dumping its current IBM mainframe to aid the switch: it is installing Fujitsu Ltd M760 Model 4 machines running Amdahl Corp’s UTS implementation of Unix System V – the M760 is the machine that Amdahl is using as the basis of its Unix-only mainframe; DHL Japan had sales of around $87m last year out of a total DHL group worldwide turnover of some $1,800m.
