DEUTSCHE TELEKOM WINS TENDER FOR CZECH MOBILE LICENSE

A consortium led by Deutsche Telekom AG’s mobile telephone arm DeTeMobil has won a government tender for a 49% stake in a licence to operate one of the two new Czech Groupe Speciale Mobile networks, the Economics Ministry said. The group, which also includes Italy’s Stet SpA, will invest $183m in the network and becomes a minority partner in a 49%-51% joint venture with Czech transmission agency Ceske Radiokomunikace as to set up one of two networks. The other will be operated by Eurotel sro, a joint venture of Czech telecom group SPT Telecom as, Bell Atlantic Corp and US West Inc.
