DEST Corp, Milpitas, California has announced Version 1.1 of its Publish Pac for Apple Computer’s Macintosh SE personal computer: Publish Pac interface software runs on DEST’s PC Scan Plus desktop scanner, which reads text, line drawings and continuous-tone images into industry standard desktop publishing and graphics software packages; with the new release, users can take advantage of the Macintosh SE’s faster processing and large storage capacity, both important for desktop publishing applications; it also offers image file formatting for Adobe Illustrator and includes a MacPaint file option for storing images and a new algorithm for scaling halftones and line drawings, allowing users to manipulate the size and shape of images on the screen before they are stored in a MacWrite format; ships start late May at the usual $595.
