That’s the spirit, and it underlines the things computer makers are still not getting right as they target their newest computers at the consumer market: according to the Wall Street Journal, one woman rang Dell Computer Corp’s toll-free help line to ask how to install batteries in her laptop, and when told that the directions she wanted were on the first page of the manual, she replied angrily I just paid $2,000 for this damn thing, and I’m not going to read a book in order to find out how to use it.
