Delphi Medical Systems acquires EMR software provider Caretools

Troy, Michigan-based Delphi Medical Systems has bought Caretools, a provider of electronics medical record systems, in a bid to expand its presence in the medical device market.

By CBR Staff Writer

Delphi Medical’s new software package will make Delphi Medical Systems the only provider of easy-to-use handheld devices that can monitor and provide 2-way communication with a variety of medical devices, said Christophe Sevrain, Delphi Medical Systems managing director.

The company hopes the acquisition will also reduce healthcare costs by encouraging more frequent patient virtual visits and facilitating remote medical data exchanges.

As part of the agreement, Delphi Medical will immediately offer Caretools’ electronics medical record (EMR) system to healthcare providers on both personal computers and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs).

Delphi Medical also plans to enhance the software to provide short- and long-range digital communication between the care provider and its own healthcare devices, including IV pumps, vital signs monitors, respiratory devices and dialysis equipment.

Medical devices made by other companies can also be connected to the software.
