Austin, Texas-based Dell Computer Corp has introduced its newest model of a desktop Pentium processor-based personal computer, the Dell Dimension XPS P166s, starting at $3,800. Volume shipments of additional configurations will begin early next month, the company said. Dell says the desktop includes Synchronous Dynamic RAM, next generation DIMM memory sockets, the Intel Corp 430VX Pentium processor chip set, ntegrated audio and a new easy-access chassis design. It says it’s the first time for Synchronous DRAM architecture to be offered on a desktop computer. It offers faster performance in a computer’s memory subsystem, because it trans?mits data at 100MHz or more and al?so comes with an eight times-speed CD ROM drive and 2.5Gb hard drive.
