Dell has launched Studio 14z, a new laptop specifically designed for online usage for people on-the-go. The laptop features a 500GB hard drive and the FailSafe theft prevention.

The hard drive can store up to 125,000 songs, 142,000 photos or 133 DVD quality movies. The Studio 14z reportedly allows people to watch their favourite movies and TV shows, listen to streaming music with friends, store a MP3 collection and socially network from anywhere.

The FailSafe theft prevention system tracks network information as well as the ISP location of the laptop and allows for remote deletion of the files and locking of the laptop until the rightful owner unlocks it.

The system includes a 14 LED display with HD resolution (720p/900p) and the frame measures between .79 and 1.2. It also posses a 2.66GHz T9550 CPU, integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs, a 1.3MP webcam with dual digital array microphones and a 2.0-channel audio system.

The Studio 14z comes in a broad array of colours – Black Chain Link, Midnight Blue, Spring Green, Plum Purple, Ruby Red and Promise Pink (US only version).

Michael Tatelman, vice president of Dell’s global consumer sales and marketing, said: “Young people have grown up with the internet and can find almost everything they need online. They want a slim, easy-to-carry laptop and like the choice of a larger hard drive over an optical drive. The Studio 14z has the storage and speed that most people need, and it comes with colour options that let them truly express who they are.”
