Dell Perot Systems Government Services Unit, Fairfax, has won an IT services contract worth more than $65m as a subcontractor to ActioNet, a business providing information systems offerings to the federal government and industry clients.
The company said that the contract supports the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Common Operating Environment (COE) and is for service delivery over 10 years.
Dell Perot Systems will provide various services, including seat and e-mail management, infrastructure services, hosting services, program management and will also support DOT’s strategic plan to extend COE to field locations.
Dell Perot Systems said that the key objective of the new contract is to further consolidate DOT’s enterprise information technology environment by transitioning field offices into the Common Operating Environment (COE).
According to Dell, key goals of consolidation include, increasing the stability, consistency and security of IT services while lowering total cost of ownership by reducing redundancy, and applying standardisation and process maturity.
