According to the company, the XPS M1530 notebook has 15.4-inch display, built in webcam, fingerprint reader, and touch sensitive multi-media buttons. Other features include Wi-Fi wireless networking, a slot-load optical drive, directX 10 graphics capabilities, and high-definition multimedia interface support.

XPS M1530 has an optional Blu-ray disc drive, which includes noise cancellation ear buds and a travel remote control that can be stored in the notebook’s ExpressCard card slot. The technical features of the notebook include Intel core 2 duo T5250 processor (2MB cache/1.5GHz/667MHz FSB), Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, 1GB shared dual channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, and 120GB 5400rpm hard drive.

The notebook is priced at $999 and is available in three colors, standard tuxedo black, crimson red, and alpine white. It weighs approximately six pounds.

In September 2007, rival HP launched HP Pavilion dv2600 14.1-inch customizable laptop with 4GB memory, up to 250GB SATA hard drive at 5400rpm, and a DVD burner with the lightscribe technology with an option to select from Pentium dual core or Intel core 2 duo processor, and the integrated graphics media accelerator X3100 or the Nvidia GeForce 8400M dedicated graphics.
