Bracknell, Berkshire-based Dell Computer Corp UK Ltd has three new floor-standing servers, the Powerline 420SE, 433SE and the 450SE, which were announced in the US in July: the range replaces the TE range and is based on Intel’s 20MHz 80386SX, 33MHz 80486 and 50MHz 80486 processors; the SE triad offer a 100Mb hard disk, 4Mb RAM and colour VGA monitor; the 433SE and 450SE feature processor card upgradability at a cost of UKP1,000 for 420SE to 433SE and UKP2,200 for 433SE to 450SE; graphics capability has been uprated and now stands at 1024 by 768 by 256 colours and the Dell Drive Array, a storage subsystem, is now available with native mode drivers for Novell NetWare, Unix and OS/2; the 420SE and 433SE are available now, however the 450SE is waiting on Intel Corp to solve its problems with the 50MHz chip, which has been hit by overheating problems; shipping is to be starting again in either October or November, but until then no 450SEs can be shipped; the prices in the UK and US respectively start at UKP3,600 and $5,500 for the 420SE, UKP4,400 and $7,500 for the 433SE and UKP6,000 and $9,500 for the 450SE.
