Dell Computer Corp has cut US prices up to 15% on selected models of its OptiPlex PCs, as a result of what the company says are reduced component costs attributable in part to weakness in the Asian economy. Dell also reduced prices by $200 on selected units of its WorkStation 400 that include a single 300 MHz Intel Corp Pentium II processor. Dell is quick to point out that with the vast majority of its customer base outside Asia and most of its components coming from Asia, most Dell customers are positioned to gain from the softening Asian market. The OptPlex price reductions today apply to PCs with Pentium MMX processors and Pentium IIs.
