Dell appoints new bean counter

Dell Inc has named former American Airlines chief Donald Carty as its new CFO, effective January 1.

By CBR Staff Writer

Carty will replace James Schneider. Dell is currently under investigation by the US Securities and Exchange Commission for unspecified accounting issues. Dell has said those issues do not relate to stock option expensing.

Carty has sat on Round Rock, Texas-based Dell’s board since 1992. He also was chair of its audit committee, which conducted an internal investigation into the company’s financial practices.

Schneider’s new job will be as the executive chairman of Frontier Bancshares Inc, also in Texas.
