Computer technology firm Dell has expanded its Inspiron portfolio by releasing three series laptop for the families and students.

The three series include: the Inspiron z series (14z and 13z laptops), R series (15R and 17R ) and the R Special Edition series (15R Special Edition and 17R Special Edition).

The new Inspiron laptops comes with Intel’s new 3rd Generation Core i processors (Ivy Bridge), Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium operating system and will be eligible for the Microsoft Windows 8 upgrade programme.

The new laptops also features Waves MaxxAudio technology optimised for Dell laptops to deliver studio-quality sound without the need for external speakers.

The Inspiron 13z and 14z and the Inspiron R Special Edition series feature Skullcandy-branded speakers integrated into the laptops.

Inspiron 14z sports Intel Rapid Start Technology for fast boot and resume, offers up to seven hours of battery life, weighs 4.12 pounds (1.87kg) and measures 0.83-inches (21mm) at its thickest point while Inspiron 13z comes with up to seven and a half hours of battery life, weighs 3.81 pounds (1.73kg) and measures 0.82-inches (20.7mm).

Both laptops offer mobile broadband as an option with Dell NetReady mobile broadband service. Providing connectivity on a session-based model, Dell NetReady is a "pay-as-you-go" service that allows connection where Wi-Fi may not be available.

Inspiron 15R and Inspiron 17R are designed for everyday computing and the R-series laptops include high-definition display, advanced audio with Waves MaxxAudio 3 technology, Intel Wireless Display, full connectivity and a variety of processor, memory and hard drive options.

The Special Edition laptops are designed for entertainment and multimedia activities and they also includes Waves MaxxAudio 4 audio suite with Skullcandy speakers and full HD display (1920×1080) for video playback, including Blu-ray disc options.

15R Special Edition comes with standard discrete graphics from AMD while the 17R Special Edition comes with NVIDIA.
