Dell, SUSE partner to launch Dell OEM Solutions division

Customers can customise any Dell-standard hardware within its extensive portfolio

Dell has joined hands with SUSE to launch Dell OEM Solutions division, which will offer customisable, integrated systems based on enterprise Linux offerings provider SUSE’s Linux Enterprise server with services and support for customers worldwide.

With SUSE Linux Enterprise server, Dell OEM Solutions customers can customise any Dell-standard hardware within its extensive portfolio and utilise the reliability and security of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, helping reduce cost and time to market.

In addition, Dell will use SUSE Studio, a image customisation and provisioning tool, to build and deploy application stacks based on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server onto Dell OEM Solutions’ embedded, built-to-order and customised solutions.

By using SUSE Studio, Dell will be help its OEM customers reduce the complexity and overhead costs associated with bringing integrated systems to market.

SUSE president and general manager Nils Brauckmann said enterprises are increasingly using Linux in integrated systems, ranging from consumer electronics, to industrial control, aerospace and military technologies.

"This partnership marks another milestone in our ongoing relationship with Dell. It combines Dell’s OEM product, industry standard hardware and global services capabilities, with SUSE’s flexible, reliable and cost-effective operating system and tools, to meet the specific needs of the embedded and OEM markets," said Brauckmann.

Dell OEM Solutions Americas executive director and general manager Ron Pugh said by partnering with SUSE, Dell is broadening and strengthening its offerings for the embedded and OEM markets.
