Dell commissions new data centre in Quincy, Washington

Built with the installation of a heat wheel technology

By CBR Staff Writer

Dell Services has opened a new technology centre in Quincy, Washington to provide customers in North America access cloud technologies and IT outsourcing services.

The Dell Western Technology Center is a multi-client data centre, with redundant network connectivity, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), cooling, utility and back-up emergency power generation, said the company.

The new data centre is built with the installation of a heat wheel technology for improved cooling and low energy consumption, keeping costs and power usage to a minimum.

The new facility offers disaster recovery and business continuity, provides tools and processes to keep organisations running in the event of an emergency, and offers data centre management for an infrastructure foundation to support organisational growth.

In addition, the multi-client data centre provides information security to protect infrastructure and ensure data confidentiality, integrity and availability, and also ensures data storage, protection and management, platform management and secure private and hybrid clouds.

Dell Services vice-president Kevin Jones said the Dell Western Technology Center extends Dell’s cloud services and delivery capability.

"By providing customers the technology they need — without up-front costs and complex maintenance — we can take a tremendous burden off their IT staff, enabling them to innovate and deliver high-value services that drive real business results," said Jones.
