Digital Equipment Corp – fiscal year-end figures in pages six and seven – is expected to take its campaign to hand off its operating system development costs to Microsoft Corp even further. All the evidence already is that over time, DEC wants to convert the VAX base to Windows NT and the two are expected to announce a broadened partnership to sell computers and software to corporations, with the plans including joint marketing and further integration of DEC computers and NT. Microsoft is also expected to reaffirm that future versions of NT will continue to run on Alpha RISCs.
