IBM System 36 market player Decision Data’s parent, Decision Industries Inc of Horsham, Pennsylvania is likely to slip from the grasp of hostile bidder and 23% shareholder Econocom International NV of Paris. Decision yesterday announced that it had reached definitive agreement to be acquired by a privately held company, Onset Corp, for $8.75 a share or about $85m in cash. Onset agrees to begin the cash tender offer as quickly as possible. IBM leasing company Econocom is tendering $7 a share for Decision. Onset is a new venture capidal firm formed by J H Whitney and Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, both of New York.
