Decision Data Computer GB Ltd, 51% owned by Olivetti, has launched Decision 36, the machine based on multiple 8088-compatible NEC V20s and announced by Horsham, Pennsylvania-based Decision Industries last June that runs a rewritten multi-user version of California Software Products Ltd’s Baby/36 to emulate the IBM System 36 software environment below an MS-DOS shell; the Decision 36, which features one processor per user, is claimed to have a 20% to 40% price advantage over the System 36 and a two-user desktop competitor for the IBM 36-5364 with 40Mb hard disk, two 3196 display stations, RPG II and systems software costs UKP11,126, while a 1Mb RAM, 60Mb disk desk-side eight-user model with ASCII terminals and software costs UKP18,460.
