Digital Equipment Corp has won a UKP1.2m contract from the Welsh Development Agency for the supply of systems and a country-wide network that will enable the introduction of new imaging, communications and information systems packages: the contract includes VAX 6510 and 4000 computers and a finance and accounting system, CFACS, supplied by Cedardata Ltd working with DEC; DEC’s telecommunications network will enable the Agency to extend its coverage to all staff and will provide electronic links to other organisations; DEC also recommended the use of Powerhouse applications development and data management products from Cognos Inc and will be responsible for the migration of Powerhouse systems and data; the system will be going live in April.
