Northern Telecom Ltd’s SL/1 will be the second PABX to interface with DEC’s Computer Integrated Telephony range, CIT. DEC launched its CIT offerings for VAXes earlier this month (CI No 1,106), connecting with British Telecommunications Plc’s Regent Generic 257 PABX. Although DEC refused to comment on a possible release date, CIT on the Sl/1 – one of the leading digital PABXs in Europe – is earmarked for the middle of March. The SL/1 is marketed worldwide, under a number of brand names: these include GEC Plessey Telecommunication Ltd’s ISLX and BTEX in the UK, A345 in Sweden and ILS 6000 in Italy.
