DEC SUIT AGAINST EMULEX BECOMING A FARCE

By CBR Staff Writer

The DEC suit against Emulex Corp is beginning to assume the proportions of farce: only a fortnight after the injunction restraining the company from designing, developing, manufacturing and marketing products whose design was completed after June 1985, overturned in November, was restored on appeal by US District Court in New Hampshire (CI No 598), it has been lifted again by the higher Federal Cibcuit Court of Appeals in Washington; Emulex therefore intends to go ahead with plans to launch a new Storage Module Disk Interconnect system that enables VAX and VAXBI users to mix and match up to four SMD and SMD-E drives in an HSC/50/70 cluster via the DEC Standard Disk Interface – at the Dexpo 87 exhibtion at Olympia next month.
