DEC is determined to protect its intellectual property tied up in the VAXBI Bus Interface, and is suing Clearpoint Research Corp, Hopkinton, Massachusetts, seeking injunctive relief and cash damages for infringement of Digital patents, copyrights and trademarks in Clearpoint’s VBIRAM add-on memory: DEC reckons that the product infringes three patents and the suit seeks permanent injunction against sales of VBIRAM and tripled damages for wilful infringement of DEC’s patented rights; DEC also charges that Clearpoint has unlawfully copied and distributed DEC’s VMS operating system, and Digital seeks to have Clearpoint enjoined from further distribution of DEC software.
