DEC REVENUE FROM ALPHA-BASED PRODUCTS DROPS 12%

Because of price cuts, volume may have picked up but value didn’t, and revenue from Alpha-based products declined 12% last quarter compared with a year earlier period at Digital Equipment Corp. The trouble is that you don’t know from what bases, but the company says that in the latest quarter, while sales of Alpha- based machines running Windows NT rose 40%, sales of Alphas running Unix declined by 6%.
