Digital Equipment Corp has signed Bristol Technology Inc, the Ridgefield, Connecticut emulation software company that has privileged access to Microft Corp’s Windows source code, to help it add a set of applications programming interfaces and create a set of common compilers to enable Win32 applications to run under OpenVMS, US PC Week reports. There is no date on that, but the US trade weekly hears that it will add functionality to the OpenVMS operating system at the DECUS show in San Francisco in two weeks. This will include hooks to link VMS to Windows NT, a new file system, high availability extensions, and clustering capabilities. DEC is expected to ship a new OpenVMS release that includes the additions in January.
