In October, Almaty, Kazakhstan-based Digital Equipment Corp and Microsoft Corp partner Glotur signed a contract to supply and support a system based on 20 AlphaServer 1000 4/233 to the Kazakhstan Narodnyi Bank, the former Savings Bank of Kazakhstan. The contract is worth $569,000. The servers will be used in the regional branches and head office of Narodnyi Bank. The 20 servers will go to each of the Kazakhstani regions with one in the capital Almaty. Glotur says it is planning to capitalise on the world-wide alliance between Microsoft and DEC, and to base all its systems on Microsoft and DEC products.
